Chinakathoor Pooram

The feature of the Chinakkathoor celebrations is a fabulous parade of 30 tuskers. Conventional exhibitions of the Panchavadyam or the sanctuary ensemble and different other artistic expressions like Vellattu, Theyyam, Poothanum thirayum, Kaalavela, Kuthira Vela, Aandi Vedan, Karivela, et cetera are appeared. The Tholpavakoothu, a formal shadow manikin appear, is performed at the sanctuary premises each night for the 17 days going before the finishing up celebration. The celebration begins with kuthira (horse) amusement and closures following day with Theru(Ratham),a wonderful sight[peacock term] is the enrichment of theru(Ratham) by Mudaliar tamils of Palappuram, and the parade of sixteen well-decorated 16 models of the kuthira (horse) and the kaala (bull) conveyed ceremoniously to the sanctuary by devotees.Unlike other Ratham in Tamil Nadu or Kalpathy, this isn’t pulled by Vatam(coir) and keeps running on wooden wheel.
